Can I drive to the public lands in Alaska?

Answer:

The relatively small road system of Alaska leaves many of the public lands inaccessible by car. In fact, of the 17 National Park units in Alaska, you can drive to only 6 of them (one by ferry) and of the 16 National Wildlife Refuges in the state, only 2 are road accessible. Those public land units not accessible by road are usually reached by air.
